CHIANTI DOCG

Wine information

Category: Chianti DOCG

Growing area: Chianti Colli Fiorentini

Blend: 90% sangiovese, 5% canaiolo, 3% trebbiano toscano and malvasia del Chianti, 2% colorino

Altitude: 250 metres

Soil type: galestro (layered limestone-sandstone marl)

Training system: low spur-trained cordon

Harvest: September 15 through October 20

Vinification process: When the grapes have reached optimal ripeness, they are harvested manually, destemmed and crushed, and undergo fermentation in fibreglass-lined tanks. After 20-25 days of fermentation and maceration, the wine is drawn off and matures in vat until ready for bottling. After a brief period of bottle-ageing, it is ready for release.

Sensory profile: Luminous, intense ruby-red, tending with age to a subdued garnet hue. Heady, youthful aromas of ripe fruit, with hints of violet. Crisp and dry on the palate, with good development; well-balanced overall, with judicious tannins contributing to an impressive structure.

Alcohol: 12.5-13% vol.

Serving temperature: 18°

Serving suggestions: Ideal with a wide range of dishes, in particular with red meats and cheeses.
